Тема: «Учеба и обучение за рубежом»
социокультурный аспект знакомство с практикой получения образования за границей,
распространенной среди западных студентов; развитие умения находить сходства и различия между
традициями своей страны и стран изучаемого языка;
развивающий аспект развитие способности к предположению, соотнесению, перефразированию;
развитие слуховой памяти: увеличение объема;
воспитательный аспект формирование осознания своей культуры через культуру Великобритании,
воспитание уважения по отношению к другим культурам, воспитание любознательности, желания
расширять кругозор;
учебный аспект развитие умения аудировать с пониманием основного содержания, с полным
пониманием текста, умения выделять основную мысль в воспринимаемом на слух тексте, умения
антиципировать (предвосхищать/прогнозировать содержание), умения выделять ключевые слова в
вопросах задания и находить к ним синонимы;
сопутствующая задача: совершенствование лексических и грамматических навыков говорения и
письма; развитие умения определять предложения, описывающие детали.
Речевой материал:
продуктивный: лексический — материал, усвоенный на предыдущих уроках;
рецептивный: лексический — a day off (из Книги для чтения) и материал, усвоенный на предыдущих
грамматический для повторения: словообразование.
Ход урока
I. Организационный момент. Сообщение темы и целей урока
Good morning, boys and girls! (Good morning!)
I haven't seen you for ages. I am glad to see you again. (We are glad to see you too.)
How are you? (We are fine, thanks. And how are you?)
I am fine, thank you. Sit down, please.
We shall read the advertisements and discuss different ways of seeking a job.
II. Фонетическая разминка
You can see two columns of words on the blackboard. Will you read them aloud, in a whisper? Let's read
them after Kate. Can you match the words from the first column and the second one to make up the word

T.: Andrew, Christina and Matthew are speaking about their studying abroad. For each situation (A-D)

a job
Speaker 1 (Andrew): I spent two months in France. Of course, I practised the language, but perhaps
more importantly was how much I learnt about cultures and people. I learned this from the viewpoint of an
member of the community and my host family, not from the tourist’s point of view. At first it was difficult, but
after the first few weeks I began to understand French culture better. I saw how family members dressed and
communicated with each other and the others. I asked questions about local customs and ways of behaving. I
tried to learn about their culture and lifestyle. And I saw the world in a new way.
Speaker 2 (Christina): I studied in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. It is a city of 10 million people
and a huge change from my hometown where only 35,000 people live! I learnt how to deal with conflicts, how
to behave in different situations and to express myself. What could make you more confident than that?
Speaker 3 (Matthew): Going abroad to study in Australia was the first time I was really away from
home, from friends and family. It was not an easy experience. But I returned from studying in Australia with
social skills. Now I can live without family or friends around to help. I became more independent. I think living
away from home can help me to adapt when I am in college. I lived thousands of miles away, so going to a
college that is only 560 miles from home doesn’t seem frightening.

I arrived in Seville on September 21, 2002 and left on December 18, 2002. I took five courses
History of Spain, Spanish Government, and three Spanish language classes. In addition, I went on all the day
trips that the programme offered, as well as a longer overnight trip to the city of Granada. Over the six weeks of
my stay in Seville, I understood how challenging studying abroad really is. On the whole, studying abroad is
not different from studying at our home college or university. Our timetable was set up much like it is in the US
with lectures and homework. We had exams, of course. Unlike studying in the US, we were learning about a
different country’s history, culture, government and economic system, not by reading about these in a textbook,
but by living in it. In addition to the basic problems of living in a country with a different language, history,
culture and political system, there were days when most of us there felt depressed because we couldn’t see our
family and friends. Another thing that I’ve learned about the programme is how to rely upon myself. Basically,
I was responsible for everything; I had to pay for my room, my books and school things. Studying abroad is the
best experience you can have. I think it’s the best way to learn the language and culture.

I had always been very interested in teaching, so when I lost my job in advertising, I decided not to look for a
similar job but to get a Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate. It was one of the best things
I ever did. I chose an intensive course and, at the end of it, I went to the capital of Portugal. At the start I had a
job teaching in a private school in the afternoons, but quickly found work at other schools to cover the
mornings, and took on a few private pupils. I found I really enjoyed the teaching. Almost all my students were
adults, although I had a few young people, and it was a real contrast when I arrived in Sweden. I went there
because it offered a new challenge. All of a sudden I was teaching quite a few top managers, to a much higher
standard, and they were going to take exams. It was quite a shock going from Portugal to the northern country,
with its long winters, but I found the teaching more interesting. Most of my students worked for big companies
like Ericsson. The teaching was quite challenging but very satisfying. I found the Swedes were not sociable
especially after the Portuguese but I met a lot of people from other parts of the world and Stockholm is a
very beautiful and romantic place in which to live. Now that I’m back in the UK, for family reasons, I look
back on my time abroad with great love. It really is very stimulating to work overseas and I would recommend
it to anyone. Choose a career path that offers the possibility of moving overseas.
