Тема урока: Talking about my generation
Цель урока: развитие речевых навыков (чтение и говорение) в рамках темы Talking about my generation”.
Задачи урока: 1. развивать умение поискового чтения;
2. активизировать лексику по теме в монологических высказываниях;
3. научить высказывать свои предположения и идеи;
4. воспитывать интерес и уважение к различным культурам.
Оснащение урока: мультимедийный проектор, компьютер, демонстрационный экран, УМК Rising star (Luke
Prodromou. Oxford : Macmillan, 2001 ).

- Today we are going to speak about things which are
very familiar and interesting for you. We’ll discuss
youth culture, how teens express their individuality.
You know that a lot of people belong to different
subcultures. What is a subculture?
- I think, a subculture is a group of people with the
same interests, the same style and they like the same
music. Do you agree with me? What subcultures do
you know? There are a lot of them. Remember them.
What do you know about them? So, what are the main
features of any subculture?
Irina, please…Right.
Any more ideas? Ok.
So, your home task was to write the letter of
application. Please collect your copybooks. Later I’ll
check up it.
-Well, open your books at page 10. There are texts
about youth culture and there are also pictures. Now
read these texts quickly and match each one with a
correct photo.
-Well done! Now ex 2 p.11. Your task will be to
complete the table, but at first read these texts again
for the information, that you need. You should not
worry about difficult words at this stage. Set a time
limit of ten minutes for this.
Now look at the screen. I’ve prepared for you a task
“True, False or Not Stated”. Let’s do it.
The next task is also for you. I believe there are some
mistakes in the descriptions of the subcultures. Find
and correct these mistakes.
Let’s get down to the ex 3 at the same page. Firstly
look at the screen. There are definitions on the board.

Match them with the correct word from ex 3. We’ll
work in pairs. Read the text again and underline the
answers and write them next to the correct word.
So, what music styles prefer different subcultures? To
express your opinions use these combinations of
words:
1. In my opinion …
2. I think …
3. I suppose that…
4. I’m sure that …
5. I do feel that …
6. There is no doubt that …
And now one more task. Here we must use the names
of subcultures instead of pronouns.
Well, now we’ll work in pairs. I’ll give you cards with
questions, you must answer them, using new texts,
that you’ve read.
Boys and girls think about the question: Which of the
youth movements would you like to belong to?
Think about it 2-3 minutes
- Your home-task will be the following: to write
arguments “for” and “against” a youth culture.
