Задачи:
1. Прививать интерес к путешествиям.
2. Развивать способности к логическому изложению.
3. Овладеть лексическим материалом и расширить кругозор по
теме «Holidays and travelling».
4. Формировать лексические и грамматические навыки говорения.
5. Познакомить с достопримечательностями некоторых городов
России.
6. Учить учащихся воспринимать на слух текст, построенный на
незнакомом языковом материале.
Оборудование: компьютер, презентация, видео и аудио - записи.
Тип урока: урок систематизации знаний по теме «Holidays and
travelling».
Ход урока.
I.Организационный момент.
«Good morning. I am glad to see you. It is time to start our lesson. The
topic of our discussion today is travelling. The multimedia presentation
will help us».
II.Основная часть.
Речевая зарядка.
T: «Modern means of communication make the world a small place.
Now it is possible to visit many countries and meet people of all
nations. Today travelling is a way of life for some people. Could you tell
me what makes people spend time and money on travelling? What
reasons for travelling?» T Class
( Students’ answers: to have rest, to see different places, to meet
people).
T: So, Now let’s try to answer the questions at the lesson ( complete
the sentences).

S1: « Yes, travelling by air is the fastest and most convenient way, but it
is most expensive».
S2: Travelling by train is slower than by plane, but it has its advantages.
T: «What advantages»?
S2: «You can see more interesting places of the country you are
travelling through. And modern trains have more comfortable seats».
S3: «As for me, I prefer travelling by car. I think it’s very convenient.
You needn’t reserve tickets. You needn’t carry heavy suitcases; you can
stop whenever you wish».
T: «You are absolutely right. Millions of people all over the world spend
their holidays on travelling. They travel to see other countries and
continents, modern cities and ruins of ancient towns, they travel to
enjoy picturesque places or just for a change of scene».
S4: «It’s always interesting to discover new things, different ways of
life, to meet different people, to try different food, to listen to different
musical rhythms».
S5: «You are quite right. Those who live in the country like to go a big
city and spend time visiting museums and galleries, looking at shop
windows and dining at exotic restaurants».
S6:« The best way to study geography is to travel and the best way to
get know and understand people is to meet them in their own homes».
T «So, what does the word « travelling mean for you? »

T: «Thank you. It is very interesting. Different people like to travel
differently. Some people prefer staying at home , some going around
and some discovering our huge country»

S1: « I’d like to travel abroad, because you can visit new places, meet
friends, see sights, learn about national traditions, and practice your
language, take photos, buy souvenirs».
S2: «Sorry to interrupt you, but I can’t agree with you. Travelling in
Russia is a good way too, because you can learn about national
traditions, speaks native language, eat favorite food».
S1: « What do you mean? »
S2: « I’ll try to explain. For example a Voyage up the Volga. You can
visit а great number of historical cities with an inspirational trip to
Mamaev Kurgan to see the statue the Motherland Calls, Saratov,
Samara and Simbirsk. In every village there are small shops and street
vendors selling clothes, matryoshka dolls and umber souvenirs».
S1: « Sorry, you are talking so emotionally…. You are simply old-
fashioned. What is better traveling abroad? As for me, I’d like to visit
England, because London is a centre of fashion. I’d like to buy a lot of
shoes, clothes, visiting Oxford Street, to see a double-decker bus. It’s
fantastic».
S2: «Beyond any doubts, travelling in Russia is cheaper of course.
Kazan, where the Volga meets the Kazanka river. Kazan is half Russian
half Tartar and completely charming. You can visit the Kazan Kremlin
and cathedral».
S1: « I’m sorry, but I don’t enjoy seeing the Kazan Kremlin. I’d better
visit Westminster Abbey or ride the London Eye».
S2: «I think you can’t but agree that it’s more interesting to see one of
the most famous lakes in the world and one of Russian greatest
Landmarks».
S1: « What are you talking about? »
S2: « Lake Baikal of course! »
S1: « But travelling abroad gives you a change to improve your
language, learn culture of the country, their customs and traditions;
take a lot of photos and just get new emotions. To sum up I’ll be able to
brag about I was abroad».
S2: « OK, now look at the screen»

S2: « The whole world is in one country, in our country! Have you ever
thought about disadvantages of travelling abroad?»
S1: « What do you mean?»
S2: « OK. Let’s see».

S1 Welcome back. How was your holiday?
S2 Don’t ask! It was the worst holiday I’ve ever had.
S1 In the Caribbean?
S2 Yes. So many things went wrong.
S1 Like what?
S2 Well, for a start my friend left his passport at home. We had to go
home and fetch it, so I missed our flight.
S1 Oh no, how terrible! So what did you do?
S2 Well, we caught the next flight…which was delayed… and then to
make matters worse the airline lost my luggage.
S1 Oh dear! Surely things were a bit better when you got there.
S2 I wish! It rained every day. No one told us we were going in the rainy
season
S1 What an absolute nightmare! Oh well? try to look on the bright side
– it’s not safe to get a suntan these days anyway!
S2 Huh! I’ll tell you what… I’m staying at home next year
IV. (Монологические высказывания учащихся про их каникулы)
T: «And now I’d like to know how do you usually spend your holidays
and where do you travel? »
S1: « Every year my friend and I go somewhere to the south for holiday.
The Black sea is one of the most wonderful places which attracts
holiday –makers all over the world. There are many rest-homes, spas
and tourist camps. As a rule I make new friends, we play volleyball,
swim in the warm sea and sunbathe. In the evening I like to sit on the
beach watching the sea. I’m fond of mountaineering. So I do a lot of
climbing with my friends. »
S2: «I like to travel. First of all the members of our family usually have
long walks in the country. If we want to see countryside we have to
spend a part of our summer holiday on hikes. During such hikes we see
a lot of interesting places sometimes we meet interesting people. »
S3: « I like travelling. I want to see different kinds of trees, flowers and
plants.
When I go travelling I always take a camcorder or a digital camera with
me ant take pictures; the sights of a city, views of mountains, lakes, the
ruins».
S4: « People in our planet can’t live without travelling now. Tourism
has become a highly developed business. Nowadays people travel not
only for pleasure but also for business. You have to go to other
countries to sign contracts, to push the goods produced by your
company. It helps you to get more information about other
companies».
T: « Thank you very much, girls. OK. Now answer my questions please.
Have you ever heard about ecotourism?
(Ответы учащихся).
S1: « I think travelling we mustn’t forget about nature»
T: « You are absolutely right».
V. Ecotourism- what is it?
(Этап формирования навыков аудирования).
« I would like you to listen to the interview with an ecotourism
organizer and answer my questions».
Is ecotourism popular today?
What are the most popular places for ecotourism?
Is ecotourism a positive thing?
Is ecotourism a new thing for people?
Why is ecotourism so different?
( Учащиеся слушают аудиозапись и отвечают на вопросы).
S2: « Ecotourism is a rather new thing. It appeared in the 1980-s».

S1: « Ordinary is vacation in amusement parks like Disneyland with
different attractions. But if you want something exotic you start
seeking for an alternative vacation like going to mountains or
rainforests».
S3: « It is becoming increasingly popular! »
S4: « One the one hand it is positive because it seems to be better than
ordinary tourism. But the other hands there are already 1 men tourists
who want to see icy-caps for example»
S5: « The third world countries like Tanzania, Kenya or Phuket are
popular places».
T: « That’s right. Now you now that travelling mustn’t be danger for our
nature, next time when you want to visit England, think about Kenya,
for example. And now I think it’s time to relax and thing a song! Look at
the screen.
