Тема: «Reading of English books as the way of English-speaking countries cultural
studying»
(On the book “A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeleine L’engle).
Цель урока: формирование навыков монологической речи по теме «Чтение
англоязычной литературы (на примере книги М. Лингл «Дыра во времени)»; активизация
лексических и грамматических навыков по теме; формирование общеучебного умения
выделять ключевую мысль устного или письменного высказывания; формирование
мотивации к чтению аутентичных книг, написанных на английском языке.
Оборудование: мультимедийная презентация к уроку; аудиозапись; интерактивная доска
(проектор); распечатки материалов для каждого учащегося.
ХОД УРОКА:
Организационный момент
-Good morning, boys and girls.
- I’m glad to see you.
- And I hope, you are in a good mood today and absolutely ready to do your best during our
lesson. Let’s start it. Please, sit down.
1. Речевая разминка
Before beginning to talk about our today theme I want to ask you some important questions.
- Do you like reading?
- What kind of books do you prefer: fairy-tales, fantasy, detective stories, poetry,
documental or historic literature, novels? Why?
- What’s the most important thing to you in a book to decide that it is worth reading: a
surprising plot or an opinion of your friend, who had read this book before?
- Have you ever tried to read an English book?
Учитель привлекает внимание учащихся к слайду презентации, где представлены
слова и выражения, которые можно использовать при ответе на поставленные вопросы.
2. Введение основной темы урока
Let’s talk about the importance of reading English books for everyone who wants to
know the language perfectly. First of all, it’s interesting to try reading an English book and
understand if you can do it without a dictionary. And secondly when you are reading an English
book you can feel the way of writer’s thinking. And he or she is a native speaker.
Today we are going to learn some interesting facts about well-known American writer
Madeleine L’engle. Maria, you are welcome.
I want you to do some notes according to the plan you can see at the blackboard while
listening to Maria, who’ll introduce the brief facts about Madeleine L’engle’s life to you.

план записи в тетради основных фактов биографии писателя, который они должны
заполнить по ходу прослушивания выступления Тарасовой М. Затем учащиеся отвечают
на поставленные вопросы и сверяют свои ответы с «ключом», который выводится на
доску.
3. Активизация навыков аудирования
Now let’s go to the book itself. First of all Andrew will tell us some unusual and surprising facts
about it. Andrew, you are welcome. The last three questions can be answered with help of the
recording that you are going to listen to a little bit later.

записи в тетради основных фактов, касающихся обсуждаемой книги, который они
заполняют по ходу прослушивания выступления одноклассника. Затем учащиеся
отвечают на поставленные вопросы и сверяют свои ответы с «ключом», который
выводится на доску.
4. Активизация навыков чтения.
Now it’s time to meet the characters of “A Wrinkle in Time”. You will work in groups of 3-4
people. Each group will be given some extracts from the book to analyze where you’ll find a
description of book characters’ appearance and some information about his / her personality.

1) Классификация героев произведения и их первичное описание;
2) Схема, которую необходимо заполнить, опираясь на отрывки из книги,
подготовленные для групповой работы.
1) You will meet both extraterrestrial and human characters in “A Wrinkle in Time”.
As you read, try to think of words that describe the characters. Add several
adjectives until you have a brief description of the characters in the book. Underline
the three main sentences in the description of each character.

5. Активизация грамматических навыков.
Учитель организует выполнение и проверку грамматического задания.
You have received a letter from your pen-friend Ann who started to read the book earlier
than you. Open brackets and use the verbs in an appropriate form (the Past Simple or the
Past Continuous).
… After they had started their travelling, Meg and others (go) _______________________ to
the dark planet of Camazotz which was entirely dominated by the Dark Thing. Meg's father was
trapped there. They (discover) ___________________ that all the inhabitants behaved in a
mechanistic way and seemed to be all under the control of a single mind. While they (stay)
______________________ on Camazotz, Charles Wallace (get) _________________ into a big
trouble. But they (meet) ____________________ their father! And he (do)
____________________ everything he could to escape from Camazotz, but Charles Wallace
was left behind, still under the influence of the Dark Thing.

6. Подведение итогов урока. Объяснение домашнего задания.
Our today lesson is going to end. Thank you for being so hardworking and attentive. Your home
task is to write an essay on the question “Would I like to read “A Wrinkle in Time?” (10 -25
sentences). Use the following plan:
• What do I know about “A Wrinkle in Time”?
• What are the main characters of the book? Do I like them? Do I want to learn more
about them while reading? Why?
• Reasons for reading (or against reading) “A Wrinkle in Time”.
