по английскому языку
для 7 класса
на тему «Почему мы изучаем английский язык?»

Цель: Актуализация знаний об англоязычных странах и роли английского языка в
современном мире. Обеспечение использования активной лексики по теме “Изучение
английского языка” в серии речевых упражнений.
Задачи:
1. Образовательная:
тренировка произносительных навыков;
развитие умений коллективной, познавательно – поисковой деятельности;
развитие коммуникативных умений (отвечать на вопросы, выражать свое мнение о
необходимости изучать английский язык);
развитие навыков аудирования;
формирование и совершенствование практических навыков владения лексикой для
оформления личного письма.
2. Воспитательная:
воспитание положительного отношения к изучению иностранного языка;
воспитание культуры общения;
воспитание интереса к учению и формирование познавательной активности;
формирование потребности в практическом использовании языка в различных
сферах деятельности.
3. Развивающая:
развитие внимания, памяти, восприятия, воображения, речемыслительной
деятельности учащихся.
Тип урока: комбинированный
Формы учебной деятельности, используемые на уроке: групповая, фронтальная,
индивидуальная
Методы: рассказ, беседа, иллюстрация, самостоятельная работа
Оснащение урока:
доска, учебник УМК “Enjoy English” 7 класс, рабочая тетрадь, CD-плеер, картинки,
флаги англоязычных стран, раздаточный материал, таблицы, памятки.
Ход урока
I. Приветствие. Орг. момент.
T: Good morning, children. I am very glad to see you. I hope you are fine today.
The topic of our lesson is “Why do we learn English?” So we’ll practice our conversational
skills, revise the material we’ve learnt lately, speak about the necessity of learning English.
II. Фонетическая зарядка
T: You know that 70 per cent of Russian students study English as their foreign language at
school. Now let’s say in what countries English is spoken as their first language.
(Учитель поднимает карточки с названиями стран, в которых английский язык является
официальным языком. Учащиеся хором повторяют эти названия за учителем).

T: Now let’s name the capitals of these countries.

IV. Основной этап урока. Актуализация знаний учащихся по теме «Изучение
английского языка».
T: You know that English is an international language. At the previous lesson we discussed and
wrote down the reasons for learning English. Now let’s remember and say why it is necessary to
know English.
(Учащиеся по очереди подходят к столу, выбирают картинку и говорят, почему важно
знать английский язык).
Pupil 1: English is the language of
politicians. Most politicians and journalists
speak English at the summit meetings.
Pupil 2: English has become a means of
communication between many countries.
Pupil 3: About 20 % of the world’s population
speaks English.

Pupil 4: Doctors and scientists all over the
world exchange their ideas in English.
Pupil 5: Nearly all the information in the
computers is in English.
Pupil 6: English is the language of rock and
pop music. Many musicians sing their songs in
English.

Pupil 7: It is the language of cinema and
TV. Most films, videos, TV programmes are
in English.
Pupil 8: It is the language of sport and
the Olympiads.
Pupil 9: It is the language of the sky the sea.
The pilots and captains must speak English
to communicate with each other.

V. Этап контроля полученных знаний
T: As you see, we should know English to communicate with each other and to be well-
educated persons. But maybe some of you think the other way. Perhaps somebody thinks that
it is not necessary to learn English. Please, go to the blackboard and write possible reasons for
learning English and against learning English.

1. English is necessary for communication with
people when you are abroad.
1. When you are abroad as a tourist, the guide helps
in all situations and explains everything in Russian.
2. Learning English is interesting and exciting.
2. Learning foreign languages takes too much time.
3. When you listen to songs in English, it’s
better to understand the words.
3. When people listen to foreign songs, they enjoy
the music and they don’t need words.
4. If you know English, you can get information
from different newspapers and from different
radio stations.
4. There are lots of newspapers and radio
programmes in Russian there is no need to read
newspapers and to listen to radio programmes in
English.
5. Watching English and American films in the
original is more interesting than watching them
in translation.

VI. Развитие навыков аудирования
T: So, your opinions differ. But despite your controversy, you should learn English because it
is the first foreign language nearly in all Russian schools. Now you will listen to the students
talking about their reasons for learning English. Listen to the tape twice and then you’ll fill in
the table.

T: Now we are going to read the letter from a foreign friend.
(Учитель раздаёт учащимся листы с текстом письма).

Dear friend,
My name is John. I’m from Australia. But last summer I with my family was
in New Zealand and I liked this country very much. New Zealand consists of two
main islands and some smaller islands. It’s a beautiful country. People there
speak English but in a very unusual way. It is often called Kiwi English.
I want to know what foreign languages you learn at your Russian schools.
Why do you learn English? I think your English is good, isn’t it? What is your
progress at English? Is Russian easier or more difficult than English?

Please, read the beginning of the letter about John’s visit to New Zealand. I’ll give you some
time and then you will ask questions to John about his visit to New Zealand. The first group
will make up general questions, the second group will make up special questions, and the third
group will make up disjunctive questions.
(Каждая группа составляет общие, специальные и разделительные вопросы, а через
определённое время ребята по очереди подходят к доске и записывают свои вопросы).

1) It is a small country, isn’t it?
2) The weather was fine, wasn’t it?
3) You enjoyed the visit, didn’t you?
4) You spoke English there, didn’t you?
5) You swam a lot, didn’t you?
VIII. Домашнее задание
T: You will answer John’s letter at home. Remember the rules of writing letters.
(Учитель вместе с учениками прочитывает памятку с правилами написания письма).
1) Put your address in the top right-hand corner of the letter without your name.
2) Write the date under the address.

3) Then comes a greeting in the left-hand corner. Put a comma after the greeting.
4) The next step is your topic. It is what you’re going to write your friend.
5) Ask your friend three or four questions.
6) The ending and your sign in the left-hand corner. You should write only your name without
any dots.

Dear John,
Thank you for your letter. It was so nice to hear from you! You asked me about
foreign languages at Russian schools.
In Russia students learn different foreign languages: English, German, French,
Chinese, Japanese and others. In my school we learn English. I like English
because it is interesting and exciting.
It is necessary to know English for communication with people abroad. If I
know English, I can understand English songs, I can translate English books
and newspapers, and I can get a better job in future.
My English is not as good as I want. But I will try.
You wrote that you visited New Zealand last summer. Is it a large country?
Where is it situated? What was the weather like in New Zealand? You spoke
English there, didn’t you?
