Задачи урока:
повторить и обобщить лексический материал по изученной теме
«Washington D.C.»
Цели урока:
1. совершенствование практических навыков и умений учащихся в
говорении, чтении и аудировании.
2. совершенствование коммуникативной компетенции учащихся в
монологе, диалоге, полилоге.
3. развитие и углубление знаний по страноведению.
4. повышение познавательного интереса к иностранному языку и стране
изучаемого языка в процессе игры, драматизации на уроке.
Учебные пособия: Т.С.О, телефоны, меню (в кафе), карточки с лексикой,
стенд с достопримечательностями Вашингтона, фотографии американских
президентов, бланк въезда в США (для заполнения), тесты (для учащихся).

I. Good morning, dear friends! How are you? Great! Everybody is OK. Let’s begin
our lesson. Your homework for today’s lesson was to work in groups and to make
a project «Hello America, goodbye Russia!». I hope you were friendly and helpful
while you were working on this project. And I hope the results will be excellent.
You should be very attentive today and at the end of the lesson you will have to fill
in the blanks in the “Washington sightseeing” quiz. But first of all pay attention to
these words and proper names. You will need them during our lesson. Repeat after

II. We are going to America by plane. Imagine, that you are in the cabin of the
plane. I’m your stewardess.
Attention please. Ladies and gentlemen! This is a stewardess speaking. I
would like to welcome you aboard Delta flight 31. We are flying to Washington
D.C. We are flying at the altitude of 11000 meters. Our flight time will be
approximately 8 hours and 45 minutes. Please, keep your seat belts fasten all the
time. The pilot is preparing to take off. I wish you a wonderful flight. Thank you.
T. – While we are in the air let’s remember a poem about our Motherland,
our country. Russia is big and beautiful and we are proud of it. What poems about

American capital. Now we are coming to Washington D.C. But before our plane
landed in Washington you must fill in these blanks of the US Department of
Justice Immigration and Naturalization Service. You will show them at Customs
(filling in the blanks)

Dear friends! You are welcome to Washington D.C. As you know
Washington is the capital of the United States. It is situated on the banks of the
Potomac river. It’s population is about one million people.

We start our tour with the United States Capitol. It is the tallest building
in Washington D.C. and the most famous building in the United States, because
this is where laws are made. The Capitol is surrounded by a beautiful garden with
many trees and flowers.

This is Washington monument. This monument was built in honour of
George Washington. You know that G. Washington was the first American
President. He was born in Virginia. He grew up on a large farm. He went to school
when he was 8 years old. He liked to study mathematics, geography and history. G.
Washington led the American army in many battles during the War for American
Independence.

In front of you you can see Jefferson Memorial. It was built in honour of
Thomas Jefferson. He was the 3

American President. The declaration of
Independence was written by T.Jefferson.

On the left side you can see Lincoln Memorial. It was built in honour of
Abraham Lincoln. He was the 16

American President. Lincoln wrote the
Emancipation Proclamation which freed the blacks in the South from slavery.

Now we are coming to the White House. This is the beautiful home of
every President of the United States, except the first President G. Washington. This
is the oldest public building in Washington D.C. consists of 132 rooms.

In a moment you will see the Library of Congress. This is the largest
national library in the world.
