It is Smolensk. . this place has a very picturesque nature. History. The history of the city of Smolensk is rooted in antiquity. In the history of Russia , Smolensk took an important place. The city occupied a convenient geographical position on the banks of the Dnieper. The first mention of the city was in 863 in the Chronicles. My city has a lot off attractions: the Holy Dormition Cathedral , the Smolensk fortress wall and a lot of temples, monuments, museums, squares and parks. This is the main attraction of Smolensk. Uspensky Cathedral is located on the hill and it is visible from all sides of the city .The handsome Cathedral with gold domes is considered one of the majestic and famous temples of our country. The Smolensk fortress wall The construction of it was in the late XVI - early XVII centuries under the leadership of the Russian architect Fyodor Savelyevich Horse. The length of the fortress wall was 6.5 km. There were 38 towers. Nowadays we can see only 18 towers.
