Lesson plan
Theme: “Sport. Olympic games.”
Level: Pre-intermediate Intermediate
Methods: Lego educational technology and elements of Singapore ways of
teaching
Aims: - Reviewing previous vocabulary about topic “Sport” and introducing with
new vocabulary
- Developing speaking skill about “Sport” (individually, in pair, in group,
using Lego educational playset “Story Starter”)
- Drilling listening skill ( understanding the speech of other students and
teacher’s instructions; working with other students in their group and react
their speech properly)
- Developing writing skill (basic rules for sport)
- Repeating grammar rule (Conditional 1,2)
I. Brainstorm about sport. How many types of sport do you know?
II. Show pictures of some kinds of sport. Name them.

III. Introducing with new vocabulary.
1) There are some pieces of paper on teacher’s table. This is glossary
about “Sport”. Look through with teacher if everything is
understandable and clear.
2) a) Next moment. Teacher gives students a sheet of paper with any
name of sport which is written on it. The students shouldn’t show to
other students their paper.
b) Students build this sport from the paper using Lego playset “Story
Starter”. They have 5 minutes to create it.
c) Students pass their platforms in a circle and other students describe
what they can see and try to guess what kind of sport it is.
IV. Developing speaking skill.
1) Work in pair ( using Singapore element of teaching Time-pair-
share)
Let’s begin who whose the first letter of name is before in alphabet.
Tell your partner about sport which you have created answering
following questions:
- What is the name of sport?
- Who are these sportsmen?
- Where are they?
- What are they doing?
- What equipment do they use?
2) Then partner in this pair should tell us that information which he/she
has got about that sport.
3) Work in group of three (using Singapore element of teaching
Teambuilding)
a) Students have paper for teambuilding on their tables

Task for students is in group to ask questions about favourite types of
sport and find similarities and differences. Take a notes on this sheet of
paper.
b) Make summarize. What sport does anybody like in your group?
Notice one common for all of them in group.

c) Build special area for this sport and write down basic rules for
chosen sport. It’s possible to create their new sport and area for it.
V. Feedback.
Conditional 1, 2: “If you want to be a good football player, you
should…” and so on.
