Тема урока: Great Britain. London.
Цель урока:
Образовательная: обобщить и расширить представление учащихся о
величайших достопримечательностях Лондона средствами английского
языка.
Развитие умения читать, с целью полного понимания текста и с целью
извлечения конкретной информации.
Развивающая: развитие внимания, памяти, способности к сравнению и
сопоставлению речевых единиц, к анализу, обобщению.
Воспитательная: воспитание потребности и способности к сотрудничеству и
взаимопомощи при работе в паре и группе, воспитание уважительного
отношения к иноязычной культуре, а также воспитание у учащихся интереса
к изучению английского языка.
Оснащение урока: презентация по теме «путешествие в Лондон», доска,
раздаточный материал(карточки с заданиями),мультимедийный проектор
Ход урока.
1.Организационный момент
Приветствие учителя.
-Good morning, girls and boys! Nice to meet you! How are you? I’m fine too.
-Who is absent today?
-What is the date today?
-What day of the week is it today?
-What is the weather like today?

-So, what are we going to talk about?

Facts about Great Britain.
The full name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland. The British Isles consist of two large islands, Great Britain
and Ireland. The British Isles are washed by the North Sea in the east and the
Atlantic Ocean in the west. The English Channel lies between Britain and the
continent of Europe. London is the capital of Great Britain, its political,
economic and cultural centre. It's one of the largest cities in the world. London
was founded by the Romans( римляне) and was called Londinium. London is
situated on the river Thames. The city is very old and beautiful. The English are
proud of Trafalgar Square. The Trafalgar Square is the centre of London.
It was named in memory of Admiral Nelson's victory in the battle of Trafalgar.
The tall Nelson's Column stands in the middle of the square. There are a lot of
places of interest in London. Among them there are: Westminster Abbey, the
Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, London
Bridge, the Tower of London.
Buckingham Palace is the Queen’s official London residence.
The Tower was built by William the Conqueror . He was crowned (коронован)
at Westminster Abbey. It was used as a fortress, a royal palace, and a prison.
Now it is a museum. Of course, no visit to the Tower would be complete without
seeing the ravens; huge black birds who are an official part of the Tower .
Legend states that if the ravens were to leave the Tower the Crown will fall, and
Britain with it. London Bridge is two thousand years old. The first bridge was of
wood. In 1973 the new London Bridge was opened on the site of the old bridge
over the Thames.
The London Underground is the world’s oldest subway system. London
Underground, is also called Tube.
The Sherlock Holmes Museum is a popular museum in London. The museum
opened in 1990 and is situated in Baker Street. The United Kingdom of Great
Britain and Northern Ireland is a constitutional
monarchy. T
he monarch serves formally as head of state. The present sovereign is Queen
Elizabeth II (the second). The British Parliament consists of the House of Lords
and the House of Commons and the Queen as its head. The Prime Minister, or
leader of the Government, is usually the leader of the political party.
The 2012 Summer Olympics and also more known as London 2012, was a major
international sport event, that took place in London, United Kingdom, from 27 July
to 12 August 2012.
Famous people of Great Britain : William Shakespeare, the great English
poet and dramatist, Winston Churchill was one of the most outstanding orators,
politicians and prime ministers of Great Britain,
Charlie Chaplin was born in London and famous for his silent films,
John Constable, one of the greatest landscape painters, Walter Scott was a
famous British writer, poet and the founder of historical novel. , Samuel Johnson,
byname Dr. Johnson, English critic, biographer, essayist, poet.
