Rudyard Kipling

(December 30, 1865, Bombay - January 18, 1936, London)

  • Rudyard Kipling was a famous English writer, poet and novelist.
  • He was born in the family of arts school professor.

He was named after the Lake Rudyard in England, where his parents met each other.

His early years Kipling spent in exotic India and enjoyed the magic world of Indian fairytales.

He came to England when he was 5.

When he was 12, he was sent to private school in Devon. The headmaster of this school encouraged Rudyard to love literature.

In 1882 Kipling returned to India as a journalist.

He wrote short stories and poems in his free time.

Most of his works were published in the local newspaper.

In 1889 Kipling travelled along the USA and Asia to write travel essays. Finally he settled in England and became popular.

Kipling began writing stories for children - "Jungle Book“.

These are some of his famous works.

Kipling remained in the history of literature as a storyteller, novelist, poet, illustrator.

Rudyard Kipling was buried in London in Westminster Abbey in January, 1936.
