It is washed by the Atlantic Ocean in the east, the Pacific Ocean in the west, by the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico in the south. In the North there are the Great Lakes. There are fifty states in the USA. Two of these states, Alaska and Hawaii, are not connected to the other states.

The USA is a large country with many natural wonders. It has almost every kind of weather. It has many kinds of land – rocky coasts, dry empty deserts, big rivers, lakes of all sizes, high mountains, great forests, sunny beaches, lands of endless winter.

Americans managed to save beautiful wild areas of their country.

The Grand Canyon is one of them. It is one of America’s main tourist attractions. Yosemite Valley is also very picturesque and popular among tourists. Yellowstone is also a place where you can enjoy the beauty and power of wild America. The greatest river of the USA is the mighty Mississippi. Native Americans called it «the father of water». Its length is about 6400 km. The Colorado and the Missouri are among other big American rivers. The Rocky Mountains or the Rockies stretch from Alaska down almost to the south of the USA. Another big mountain chain is the Appalachians in the east also running from the north to the south of America. Let us study the United States of America, a country with wonderful nature and modern cities, interesting history and clever people.
