Introduction
Teacher sets the lesson objectives.
Starter
Show the following ways of raising money for charity on
the board:
1. hold a concert
2. ask for money in the street
3. hold a dinner and sell tickets for it
4. organize a sports event
5. broadcast a special TV show
In pairs Ss discuss these ways of raising money for charity
and rank them in order of preference. (1 being the best
way of raising money, 5 being the worst way). Get
feedback from various pairs and discuss the Ss’ ideas as a
class.

Pre-reading
In pairs Ss discuss what they think is the connection
between the photos.
In groups Ss write down 3 things they know or think they
know about Live 8/Live Aid concerts in 2005/1985 and 3
things they would like to know about the concerts.
Reading
Ss read the text quickly to find out or check their
information.
Tell Ss to read the text more carefully and look for the
significance in the text of the words, phrases and numbers
in the box.
Post reading
Students answer the questions 1 4 with a different
partner for each question. Get feedback by asking various
pairs their answers and discussing them with the whole
class.
