  • Biography
  • Claude Monet was born on 14 November 1840 in Paris, France.
  • In 1851, at the age of eleven, Monet entered Le Havre secondary school of the arts.
  • Monet met Camille Doncieux in 1866 and painted her portrait. This painting brought fame to him. They married in June of 1870.
  • Monet painted the well-known landscape “Impression. Sunrise” in 1872. This painting has entitled group of impressionists and has been shown at the first impressionistic exhibition in 1874.
  • Camille died of a tuberculosis in 1879 and Monet married Alise Oshede.
  • Claude Monet died in 1926 from lung cancer. He is buried in the cemetery of the Giverny church.

Also there are some paintings in other European museums (Hermitage in Sant-Petersburg, National Gallery in London, The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow).
