Конспект урока "Hogwarts" 8 класс

Hogwarts is a boarding school for
magicians. It is a School of Witchcraft and
Wizardry. (Школа Чародейства и
Волшебства) It is located in Scotland inside
Hogwarts Castle.
The castle is huge; it has the Black
Lake, a large Forbidden Forest, several greenhouses and a full-size Quidditch
Pitch.
There are about a thousand boys and girls between the age of 11 and 18.
Students begin their studies at Hogwarts when they are 11, and finish when they
are 17 or 18. The school is free but pupils have to buy a broomstick and a magic
wand.
The uniform is as boring as most school
uniforms a white shirt, a tie, a grey
jumper and black trousers or a skirt.
The big difference is that pupils have to
wear a black cloak and a pointed hat for
lessons! Pupils can only take off their
uniforms and put on “normal” clothes at
weekends and on holidays.
Students at Hogwarts live in one of four school houses (факультета): Gryffindor,
Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. The houses represent some of the
characteristics that individuals belonging to each house possess.
Gryffindors are brave, Ravenclaws are smart, Hufflepuffs are fair players,
and Slytherins have a reputation as crafty (коварный), power seeking
(властолюбивый), and occasionally evil.
Teachers give pupils the house points for good work and behaviour. At the
end of the year, the house with the most points wins the House Cup.
In all but the fourth and sixth books, Gryffindor has won the house
championship. Harry Potter went to the House of Gryffindor. Hogwarts' motto is:
"Draco dormiens nunquam titillandus". The translation is: Never tickle a sleeping
dragon. Each house has a “common room”. Pupils can do their homework there
or get together with their friends. The pupils sleep in dormitories in groups of 5 or
6.
The Houses of Hogwarts
Coat of Arms
Gryffindor is well known for bravery. The house colours are deep red and gold,
and the house is symbolized by a lion. The entrance to the common room is on
the seventh floor hidden behind a portrait of the Fat Lady. In order to get into
the common room, Gryffindor students must say the correct password.
Hufflepuff is well known for loyalty, fair play, honesty, and tolerance. The house is
symbolized by a badger (барсук), and the house colours are yellow and black.
Its common room is near the kitchens.
Ravenclaw values smart and creative children. The house is symbolized by an
eagle and the house colours are blue and bronze. The Ravenclaw common
room is located in a high tower.
Slytherin values ambition, cleverness, cunning (хитрый) and resourcefulness. The
house is symbolized by a snake, and the house colours are green and silver. Its
common room is located in the dungeons, underneath the Black Lake, and
hidden behind a stone wall.
Hogwarts is not as modern as schools today and there aren’t any
computers or other electronic devices at school. In fact mobile phones and
computers don’t work because there is too much magic in the air.
Term begins on September 1st.
Students usually reach Hogwarts via the Hogwarts Express, which leaves
from Platform 9 3/4 of London's King's Cross Station at 11 a.m. sharp. Ordinary
people (muggles простаки, лохи) do not see it. The Hogwarts Express brings
the students to Hogsmeade Station, where the first years traditionally cross the
Black Lake in boats with the gamekeeper. Older students travel on the road in
carriages pulled by thestrals to the castle (the thestrals are generally invisible to
students except those who have witnessed death).
Many pupils take part in after-school activities. If you want to take up
chess, be careful the chess pieces are big and they actually kill each other!
The traditional sport at Hogwarts, Quidditch, takes place outside on the sport
pitch. Players take off and fly on broomsticks. The rules are very complicated
and the game has 3 different balls.
