Today we have a great topic which, I hope, everyone will love. That is something we can’t avoid in our everyday life
I mean, FASHION. Some of you follow the latest fashion and know all designers others can’t stand all these fashion
shows and labels and find it all rubbish. No matter what you think, you wear clothes and each of you has his own
style. You all look great every day at school and I can say that you all are really stylish and fashionable. But first of all
let’s remind a bit of vocabulary needed for this topic.
Step 1 Warm Up activities (5 min)
Students are shown the poster with different items of clothes, they have a minute to remember as many words as
possible. Then the poster is closed and St should tell words in turns (one by one) but don’t repeat those which have
been already told. Those St who repeat the word are dropped out. Finally, we have one winner praised with a score.

Warm up activity 2 Speaking (5 min)
St are provided with the cards containing simple questions. Each St chooses the card without seeing the question. St
try to give an answer in two-three sentences explaining it his opinion.

Do you ever make
your own clothes?
What do you think
of the fur trade?
What famous
designers do you
know about?
Do you have your
personal style of
clothing?
What is your

clothing?

for you? Why (not)?
What do clothes tell
you about the
person?
What is good and
bad taste in clothes?
Who is the
best-dressed person
in class?
Step 3 Listening (5 min)
Now, I want you to listen to different pieces of music and try to match the music style with the pictures in your
course book ( Challenges 2, p.90-91). What music do you like most? Do you like the style of clothe it goes with?
(St listen to music and define the music styles.)
Step 4 Speaking (15 min)
St are shown slides presenting different styles and subcultures. They should try to identify each style describe the
pictures. The sample descriptions are presented in the course book. (p.90-91)
Ok, thank you a lot. You’re really great students as well as fashion experts. Can you tell me how do you find the
styles presented? Which one suits you better? Which one will You feel comfortable wearing?
Step 5 Reading
St read the opinion-page and express their agreement or disagreement with the author using the structures “As for
me, I find it….. It looks …… I can’t imagine myself wearing…… I don’t think it looks fashionable at all….. I can’t agree….
I’m afraid I’m disagree….. I think so too……”
Step 6
St describe their own style or creates the ideal uniform for school. It depends on how fashion-conscious they are.
