T. Good morning, children. Today we are going to have a very interesting lesson. Does
anyone know what happened in the year 1066? Today we shall discuss this date, which is very
important for English people. Look at your papers. There are many unknown words. In what
type of texts can you meet them?
Ch. In historical novels/books.
T. Correct. We have a historical lesson in English. So let’s read the words all together.

Ch William the Conqueror.
T. William the Conqueror, the Duke of Normandy invaded England and became the king.
It influenced English culture and language. Moreover, that is the beginning of English and
French hatred. We shall study the famous results of the conflict later. Thus, William the
Conqueror founded the dynasty of Plantagenets.
