Queen Elizabeth II Queen Elizabeth II and Her Family Queen Elizabeth II was born on the 21st of April, 1926 in London, England. She became the Queen in 1952. She was only 25 years old. In the summer of 2006 the Queen celebrated her 80thbirthday. Her hobbies are riding, walking in the countryside, horse racing, walking her dogs, Scottish country dancing, because she is Scottish. Prince Charles, son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip Charles, Prince of Wales- He was born on the 14th of November 1948. Charles studied in Cambridge. In 1971 he joined the Royal Navy and became a helicopter pilot.
- The Prince of Wales married Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales in July 1981. Charles and Diana had problems with marriage. They divorced in 1996. Charles has got 2 sons: Prince William and Prince Harry.
- The Prince of Wales is active in public life in the UK. He works with 200 organizations, travels a lot around the UK and overseas on official visits.
- 7 years ago the Prince married again. He married Camilla Parker Bowles.
- Diana was very popular. The British loved her for her kindness and beauty. They called her “the People’s Princess”, because she helped sick and poor people all over the world. She was busy with charity.
- But her life was short – she was killed in a car accident on the 31st of August 1997 in Paris. She was only 36 years old.
Princess Anne is also known for equestrian talents; she won two silver and one gold medal at the European Eventing Championships, competed in the Olympic Games in 1976.
