No doubt, school is our second home.

Every year schools greet newcomers and say goodbye to leavers. Generation by generation …. each school creates its own history…. The history of Ponurovskaya school is rooted in the distant years when the majority of schools were parish and elementary. During four years children could study subjects like Mathematics and Reading without leaving their village. After that in order to continue their studying children had to go on foot to another school in the nearest village.

It’s a fact that not so many children could finish their studying or even start their studying at all. The lack of transport, bad living conditions were just a few of the reasons. It was war time. Work , farming and housekeeping were of the primary importance. A great number of young people could hardly take 4year classes. Nearby Secondary school was situated in Kovernino and education wasn’t free. Parents had to pay 150 roubles for their children’s studying. It was quite expensive. Unfortunately, only some families were able to provide a complete education for their children.

Ponurovo was gradually enlarging. In 1964 in Fateevo a construction of a new school was started. Sadly, it was incompleted. The building was burned down. A lot of children from surrounding villages such as Shlyapino, Petrovo, Ovechkino, Sermyagino attended school in Ponurovo. So, Ponurovskaya school became a boarding one where pupils were able not only to study, but also to live during term time. Sometimes school teachers also had to work as caretakers. The symbols of the Young Organizations were the red flag, Young Pioneer's red neck scarfs and ruby-coloured five-pointed star badges with the portrait of Vladimir Lenin. Their motto was "Be prepared!" "Always prepared!" As a rule, pupils at the age of 10–15 joined The Young Pioneer Organization. And children between 7 and 9 years of age were Little Octobrists. That time our school moved in another building- a modern brick one. In front of it there was a monument , that was founded in honour of a great Russian and Soviet politician Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. Since 2004 Sorokina Lyudmila Nikolaevna has been working as the headmaster .

In August 1978 Ermakov Valery Pavlovich took a post of the headteacher.

In 2004 it was the fortieth anniversary of Ponurovskaya School. The Minister of education Naumov S.V. came here to congratulate all students and teachers .
