What are the names of the environmental problems of today?

  • Air pollution
  • Water pollution
  • Destruction of natural resources
  • Smog
  • Acid rains
  • Nuclear radiation
  • Radiation from sun
  • Global crisis
  • Energy crisis
  • Nuclear crisis
  • Global disaster
  • Ecological disaster
  • Nuclear disaster
  • Greenhouse effect

Try to give reasons of this problems and measures that should be taken to solve them.

An environmental disaster is a disaster that is due to human activity and should not be confused with natural disasters. In this case, the impact of humans' alteration of the ecosystem has led to widespread and/or long-lasting consequences. It can include the deaths of animals (including humans) and plant systems, or severe disruption of human life, possibly requiring migration.

An ecological crisis occurs when the environment of a species or a population changes in a way that destabilizes its continued survival.

An energy crisis is any great bottleneck (or price rise) in the supply of energy resources to an economy. It usually refers to the shortage of oil and additionally to electricity or other natural resources. An energy crisis may be referred to as an oil crisis, petroleum crisis, energy shortage, electricity shortage or electricity crisis.

The greenhouse effect is the process in which the emission of infrared radiation by the atmosphere warms a planet's surface.

Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies such as lakes, rivers, oceans, and groundwater caused by human activities, which can be harmful to organisms and plants which live in these water bodies.

Smog is a kind of air pollution; the word "smog" is a portmanteau of smoke and fog. Classic smog results from large amounts of coal burning in an area and is caused by a mixture of smoke and sulfur dioxide.

Acid rain is rain or any other form of precipitation that is unusually acidic. It has harmful effects on the environment and on structures. Acid rain is mostly caused by emissions due to human activity of sulfur and nitrogen compounds which react in the atmosphere to produce acids.

Nuclear radiation is the process in which an unstable atomic nucleus loses energy by emitting radiation in the form of particles or electromagnetic waves.

Air pollution is the human introduction into the atmosphere of chemicals, particulate matter, or biological materials that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other living organisms, or damage the environment.

Read and translate the lines.

What natural phenomenon do they tell about?

The sun is not in bed when I

At night upon my pillow lie.

Still round the earth his way he takes,

And morning after morning makes.

Shall I tell you how and why

You find a rainbow in the sky?

When rain and sunshine come together?

That makes for lovely rainbow weather.

Is the morning tired? She looks so pale

Within her misty veil;

She scales the sky from east to west,

And takes no rest.

Before the coming of the night

The moon shows papery white;

Before the dawning of the day

She fades away.

TRY AGAIN!!!

Discuss the question:

“What should we do to protect the environment? What shouldn’t we do?”

  • Ask the governments to make laws to protect air, water and soil.
  • Develop international cooperation to solve ecological problems together.
  • Save water, Gas, energy and other natural resources.
  • Keep your towns, cities and countryside clean.
  • Don’t waste water, gas, energy, natural resources.
  • Don’t put poison into the water, air and soil.
  • Don’t dump or pour industrial waste into rivers, lakes, seas and oceans.
  • Don’t turn the planet into pile of rubbish.

Try to give as more Dos and Don’ts as you can.

DON’T FORGET:

Protect the environment!
