Цели урока:
1) познавательный аспект – знакомство с мнениями людей о высоких
2) развивающий аспект – развитие творческих способностей учащихся через
самостоятельную поисковую деятельность, умение работать в коллективе и
группе, умение высказывать свою точку зрения по проблеме;
3) воспитательный аспект – формирование уважительного отношения к мнению
другого человека, потребности в высказывании собственного мнения,
формирование основ ЗОЖ
4) учебный аспект – совершенствование речевых навыков по теме урока,
обучение составлению высказывания с элементами рассуждения.

Ход урока.
I. Starting point. Слайд №1,2 (2min.)
Good afternoon. I`m glad to see you. Greet our guests and say “Hello “ Sit down.
It is the fourth lesson on the topic. Modern technologies provide rapid progress of the
Today we`ll speak about modern gadgets and their role in the life of people. Some
people think that technology will save the world and make it better, some other think
that technology will ruin the society, is harmful for our health. Our task is to solve this
question. You`ll have to give your arguments for or against modern technologies. Today
we`ll develope teamwork skills, listening, speaking skills. You`ll learn to express your
own point of view on some questions. At the end of the lesson you are to work out the
instructions to use modern technologies wisely. You will evaluate your activity at the
lesson yourself. There are self-assessment cards on your tables. (Слайд №2 ) Will you
read and translate this proverb?
(Necessity is the mother of invention) Can you give the Russian equivalent? (Голь на

II. Warming up.
A) Stand up! Look around! Can you enumerate the world`s great inventions of the 19
and 20
centuries? ( a car, airplanes, refrigerators, vacuum cleaner and so on) (1
B) Take the cards! Can you spell these words? Use the pictures to complete to word
puzzle. Find mystery word number 11, another modern invention. Check up your
work. (Слайд 3) Can you name the word №11? Put your marks. Stand up those
who have no mistakes. (3 min.)
C) Answer my questions! (4 min.)
1. Why is our century called the information era?
2. Can you do without progress and technology?
3. Why are these modern inventions so important for us?
4. What gadgets have you got? What gadgets do you wish to have?
III. Checking up homework (5 min)
You were to translate the sentences into English using Passive Voice. (Слайд №4)
IV. Listening. (6 min.)
You will hear 4 people talking about different electric devices. Take the books. Look
through the task p. 250 Ex. 2. You`ll listen to the recording twice. Check up (p.350 U. 7)

Take your self-assessment cards and put your marks. Put your hands up those who have
got “5”, “4” …
V. Relaxation. (1min.)
Let`s do exercises for your eyes. I know that some of you have bad eyesight ( Слайд
№5 ) Look around, look at the top of the nose, look to the left, to the right, look up and
down. Twinkle your eyes.

V. Project work.
a) Let`s divide into groups Take the tables. You`ll have to make poster about your
favourite gadget. Choose the useful expressions from the table to use them in your
poster. In your posters you must enumerate advantages and drawbacks of your
device, work out the ways to escape these disadvantages. We have three teams. Name
a gadget you can`t live without. You have 6 min.
b) Present your posters (4 min.)
All your projects are well done, thank you. You have mentioned all positive and
negative features of your device and gave us good advice how to use them. Put marks
for your project work.
VI. Home assignment. (1min.)
You are to write down an essay about your favourite gadget. Take the cards. They will
help you. * Who would like to try to rhyme the words? Write them down. (слайд №8)
VII. Summing up.
We have answered the problem question of the lesson and I am glad that all of you think
that people should continue to develop technology, but they must do it wisely. Are you
satisfied with your work? Was the theme interesting for you? Have you known many
important things today? Hand in your self-assessment cards. You`ve made a good job. You
